As the transport union protest prolongs for the third day, daily routine of the public has been severely compromised.
The transport union presented a request for a quality wage of 2.57 percent along with their basic wage. The Government initially accepted for a rise of 2.40 percent, and then later endorsed a rise of 2.44 percent.
Since the transport union were not happy with the government's endorsement, they engaged in a protest from the 4th of January by not running the buses. The protest started in almost everywhere in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai and several other places. Only few buses are in operation as of now, which disturbs the actual routine of the public transport users. School children, working people etc. have been severely affected by this. The workers from Anna union have accepted to operate the buses temporarily and this has enabled the operation of minimal service. Actions have been by hiring temporary drivers.
Due to the minimal operation of buses, daily Passenger have been deprived from their daily travelling routine. And as the Pongal festival is in due next week, people who have planned to go back to their nativity are affected by this problem.
